Shot and hand-colored - frame by frame - at the end of the 19th Century. Still captivating today, but just imagine what it must have been like to watch an image move and transform like this in 1899! A beautiful example of the earliest cinematic ART. One of my three favorite Lumière films which I've uploaded.
Perfect composition, perfect contrast; an incredibly informative piece of earliest cinematic history, shot more than 105 years ago. One of my three favorite Lumie?re films I've uploaded. (Very difficult choosing a category for these clips!)
Panorama of arrival by train in Perrache station. Incredibly, this was shot over 105 years ago! While Edison was busy filming novelty subjects in front of black backdrops, the Lumières were already creating cinematic art. One of my three favorite Lumière films I've uploaded.
...Thrown By Western Women. There is a not-so-subtle commentary on colonialism here, if you choose to view it that way. Another powerful Lumière film from the late 19th Century.
